THE STUDIO

WHO ARE WE ?
To make people dream while raising awareness, to entertain while questionning them, this is the ambitious mission that we have set for ourselves. This mission is made possible by new augmented reality technologies, but also by the talented men and women who use them in order to create exceptional immersive experiences.
SAOLA Studio thus brings together complementary talents, all specialized in their preferred field, to respond to varied creative and educational desires, implement them and produce them.
From idea to realization, we put all our know-how into practice in order to propose innovative projects, tailored to the specific challenges of cultural, historical, scientific or artistic areas and to promote their mediation.
Do not hesitate to contact the members of the team if you would like more information.
OUR HISTORY
The name SAOLA, which gave its name to our augmented creation studio, comes from a rare antelope from Southeast Asia. It is the last large mammal to have been discovered. Immediately, the species was declared threatened, then unfortunately became extinct shortly after...
But the story truly becomes exceptional when in 2013, the antelope reappeared, returning as if by magic from the very long list of extinct species.
It is from this inspiring glow that SAOLA STUDIO was born, with a single objective in mind : To create, tell and produce immersive and hopeful stories, thanks to augmented reality and thanks to our team members who make it all possible.

THE TEAM
SAOLA Studio was co-founded in 2020 by Jeremy Frey and Florent Gilard. Those two men have been working together for more than ten years on audiovisual projects for the general public and have decided to use their knowledge in the field to develop a more immersive approach to learning, thanks to augmented reality.
Following this, several talented team members joined (and continue to join) the adventure :
Jeremy Frey
Co-founder, president and filmmaker
Jeremy is a filmmaker for National Geographic, France Télévisions, Netflix, Hope and Bangumi. He is the founder of the production company jmage. His achievements include the series Wild Trip, 7 jours à Kigali, Surf the line and Féminicides (prime France 2).
He is also director of photography (Human by Yann Arthus-Betrand) and artistic director (series to come Affaires Sensibles, ongoing exposition La Beauté d’une Ville at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal).
Florent Gilard
Co-founder, general director and producer
Florent worked for 13 years with Yann Arthus-Bertrand and the GoodPlanet Foundation on producing motion picture projects. Between 2012 and 2015, he is the artistic producer of the feature-length documentaries Human and Legacy.
After setting up the subsidiary of a Californian startup specializing in state-of-the-art medical imagery between 2016 and 2018, Florent returned to activist filmmaking, supporting Wild Immersion’s VR 360 productions. Open to the public in 2019 at Paris’s Jardin d’Acclimatation, this virtual reality experience aims to raise consciousness about protecting biodiversity.
Éric Boisteaux
Deputy Managing Director
With a university degree in biology, Eric worked for 15 years alongside Yann Arthus-Bertrand in the creation and production of exhibitions and festivals in many countries. Between 2017 and 2021, Eric will be helping to set up and run the GoodPlanet Foundation estate in Paris, offering 120,000 visitors a year exhibitions, workshops, concerts and conferences featuring experts and personalities committed to socio-environmental issues. Eric supports artists in the design and dissemination of their projects and is involved with organisations such as the Jane Goodall Institute France as Head of the Scientific Department.
Camille Duchemin
Scenographer
Trained at the Ecole des Arts-Décoratifs where she majored in scenography, Camille works on designing sets for live entertainment and museum exhibitions. In 2010, she took part in the creation of the Labo at France’s National Library BNF, an experimental site dedicated to innovative reading and writing technologies.
Between 2010 and 2013, she was a member of the scientific and scenographic team in charge of the reconstitution of Chauvet Cave, an important Upper Paleolithic petroglyph site. She also designed several exhibitions, notably for the Cinémathèque Française and Maison de la Radio. Finally, in 2018, Camille completed her work on stage design by creating the sets for the latest Christine and the Queens world tour.
Rémi Dupouy
Author and naturalist
Rémi reports on wildlife and nature. His video testimonials (documentaries on National Geographic, France 5, Arte, Thalassa, WILDLive!, Brut, etc.) focus as much on animal biology as on animals’ relationships to humans.
He has collaborated with major international organizations like the IUCN, CITES, and the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
Paul Gaston
Developer
A graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence, where his practice is based on video games and digital media, Paul then enriched his training with a master's degree in game design at the ENJMIN.
Since then, he has participated in several artistic events and has produced, as a team, several video games on the theme of ecology as a developer and game designer.
