Explore the ecosystems of the future through mixed reality and the work of scientists

Visions of Nature is a new mixed reality experience co-produced with the Natural History Museum in London designed as an exploratory journey into the future and what nature might look like in 100 years.

Visitors equipped with a mixed reality headset will explore certain ecosystems of the year 2125 to discover the treasures of adaptation put in place by different animal species to face the climatic and natural changes caused by our modern societies. Based on the IPCC scenarios, Visions of Nature takes the public around the world to meet these species whose potential future has been imagined by Saola Studio in collaboration with scientists from the Natural History Museum in London, for the virtual reconstruction of the animal species, their appearance and their behavior, and for the creation of the sets among which the species evolve and the visitors wander.

A unique journey around the world

The public will discover how Darwin's frog, close to extinction due to the destruction of its habitat, could recolonize certain urban parks in Chile thanks to reintroduction efforts.

Or how the tragic disappearance of the ice caps in the Arctic could lead to an increase in encounters between populations of narwhals and belugas, paradoxically leading to the flourishing expansion of a new hybrid species: the narluga! A fact already scientifically observed but marginal today.

Or how the South-West of France could return to its ancestral state of wetland and see numerous inhabitants such as the cuttlefish proliferate in its marshes.

"A first of its kind for the Natural History Museum in London"

“Visions of Nature is an incredibly exciting immersive experience, the first of its kind for the Natural History Museum in London.

Visually beautiful, it also delivers a powerful message: the actions we take today impact the future. It allows visitors to see how nature can respond, for better or worse, to the consequences of centuries of human industrial activity, as well as the interventions we can put in place to limit our impact.

We hope that visitors to Visions of Nature will leave with more confidence to think about the future we would like to build to address the planetary emergency.”
